CURRENT SCOUTING NOTES

6/3/04:  This field is unplanted.  It will be beans with most of the field being no-tilled.  It has not been burned down yet.  Weeds:  Areas of heavy lambsquarter up to 16", moderate 4" foxtail, patches of 4" velvetleaf, and scattered 8" marestail.

6/8/04:  Soybeans planted with a drill on 6/7/04 with about 75% of it being no-tilled.  It was burned down a few days before planting which killed almost all of the weeds.

6/13/04:  Soybeans VC.  The stand looks good with a few uneven spots. All weeds have been burned down.

6/22/04:  Soybeans V1.  No insects reported.  These drilled beans look very good with no weed pressure so far.

6/28/04:  Soybeans V2.  No insects reported.

7/7/04.  Soybeans V4.  There was an average of 1.5 bean leaf beetles per 100 plants.

7/12/04.  Soybeans V5.  There was an average of 1 bean leaf beetle found per 100 plants.

7/15/04.  Soybeans V6.  The field has just been sprayed.  It has killed every weed and stunted the beans a little.  There were 2.5 bean leaf beetles found per 100 plants.

7/27/04.  Soybeans V6.  BLB=1 per 20 sweeps.  The soybeans are slowly recovering from being stunted by the Flexstar.

8/3/04.  Soybeans R1.  BLB=3 per 20 sweeps.  The stand is fair with uneven areas.

8/10/04.  Soybeans R2.  BLB=2 per 20 sweeps.  No soybean aphids.

8/18/04.  Soybeans R3.  BLB=3 per 20 sweeps.  No aphids.

8/23/04.  Soybeans R3.  BLB=4 per 20 sweeps.  No aphids.
