Current Scouting Notes

6/4/04:  Soybeans V1.  BLB =2  Green Clover worms on field's East side.  Potato leafhoppers on field's west side.

6/8/04:  Soybeans V1. BLB=.1/ft  Very few BLB.  Potato Leafhoppers near river on SW part of field.

6/16/04:  Soybeans V3.  BLB= 1

6/22/04.  Soybeans V5.  Several green clover worms per field.

7/1/04.  Soybeans R1.  Yellow-green areas appear on the upper leaves and gray fuzz appears on the underside of the leaf which appears to be Downy Mildew.  No insects reported.

7/8/04.  Soybeans R1.  BLB=.7/sweep.  Noted Downy Mildew generally in the middle part of the field.  Some Brown Spot on the lower leaves.

7/16/04.  Soybeans R1.   BLB=2.  Previous disease levels subsided from previous report.

7/22/04.  Soybeans R3.  BLB=2/sweep.  No aphids.

7/29/04.  Soybeans R4.  BLB=4/sweep.  No aphids.  Small to medium sized grasshopeers.  Brown spot - south central part of teh field.  Small green clover worm on North central part of the field.

8/6/04.  Soybeans R4.  BLB=3/sweep.  Random medium sized grasshoppers.  Defoliation less than 5%

8/14/04.  Soybeans R5.  BLB = 1/sweep.  Few grasshoppers, green clover worms.  Bacterial blight is still present.  Random areas of white mold affecting and killing individual plants.

8/21/04.  Soybeans R6.  BLB=1/sweep.  Small to medium sized grasshoppers.  Disease pressure stable and does not seem to be increasing.  Small area of individual plants dying and turning brown from top to bottom thinning stand by less than 1%.

8/28/04.  Soybeans R6.  Some new growth from recent rains (3-4").  An average of 65 pods/plant.  Yellowing of whole plant indicative of plant maturity.
