We've been using management evaluation to test our ideas and it has just expanded from there. But now that we've seen evaluation work in our farming operation, we think that it's something that every producer should look at.

One of the changes we made was to cut back nitrogen application from 140 pounds an acre to 120 pounds an acre. There was no yield difference at all; so going through this process confirms with data a gain in efficiency. That’'s a satisfying first step in EMS.

When we can do something on our own land and within our own management system, and see it work, we can apply it on the rest of our acres with confidence.
